House Explosion in Dayton, Ohio

At least 49 homes were damaged in the explosion and officials expect that number to rise as more nearby families assess their property.

“Sometimes in explosions like this, things need to settle — need to give it a minute just to kind of settle down. Make sure the evaluations are done right, especially if you think you have a lot of damage. Make sure an engineer looks at it,” said Matt Bowman, a senior project manager for the contracting company.
And Bowman also warns not having a professional job completed could hurt your pockets.
“Well the key to remember is that your insurance company only pays for the damage one time so if the damage isn’t fixed right, it could be up to you to fix it right the second time,” said the 12-year contracting veteran.
Officials have also advised victims to beware of scammers that could be on the prowl.
